On Wednesday, the Petah Tikva Magistrates Court ordered a one-week house arrest for three nursery assistants suspected of abusing toddlers at a daycare in the Sharon region. In addition to house arrest, the court imposed a 30-day restraining order from the facility, a ban on contacting those involved in the case, and a 90-day prohibition from working with vulnerable populations.
The case came to light following a police investigation that involved the seizure of video footage from the daycare. Parents were summoned to the Kfar Saba police station to view the recordings, which allegedly showed disturbing behavior by the staff. According to parents, the footage depicts violent and degrading practices against toddlers under the age of two. One father described a routine of shouting and forceful discipline. Another mother testified that she observed an assistant hitting her son with a dustpan and then throwing him onto a mattress.
Parallel to the legal proceedings against the assistants, the parent community has raised serious allegations against the daycare director. Parents claim that warning signs regarding staff conduct had accumulated over time and that prior complaints were not addressed appropriately. One parent reported that her daughter had previously complained about ear-pulling, only to be dismissed by management. Other parents described difficulties in obtaining transparency from the staff. The parents expressed concern that the management was aware of the suspicions and had ignored them. As of this report, the investigation is ongoing, and parents are calling for accountability. It should be emphasized that at this stage, these are merely allegations and suspicions that have not yet been resolved in a full legal proceeding.
