The State Attorney's Office has filed a serious indictment against Abdallah Gargawi, a 20-year-old resident of Segev Shalom, charging him with a series of grave security offenses. According to the indictment, published following a police investigation, the defendant planned to execute a mass-casualty attack at the popular 'Forum' club in Beersheba. During questioning, it was described that the defendant expressed a desire to harm party-goers indiscriminately.

According to information published by Walla, the indictment includes charges of contact with a foreign agent, providing services to a terrorist organization, preparation to commit an act of terror, and training and instruction for terrorist purposes. The indictment reveals that starting in 2022, Gargawi began consuming content related to the Islamic State (ISIS) on social media, developing a deep identification with the organization's ideology. In this context, he established contact with individuals identified with ISIS, held discussions regarding the organization, and was exposed to additional propaganda material.

The acts attributed to him included concrete attempts to acquire and manufacture explosives. According to his confession during questioning, the defendant searched online for guides to manufacture explosives and attempted to obtain the necessary components such as sulfur, charcoal, and agricultural lime. In his interrogation, Gargawi described how he tried to procure the materials in various locations, and upon encountering difficulties, turned to using match heads to extract sulfur. He even described an initial experiment conducted in his grandfather's yard, where he ignited a mixture of materials he had prepared.

Beyond physical preparations, the indictment describes how Gargawi joined a designated group on the 'Signal' messaging app, where discussions concerning jihadist activity took place. When it became clear that the group was to be closed, the defendant acted to maintain contact with its members and even deleted the application from his device to conceal evidence of his actions. The prosecution attributes to him prolonged preparatory actions for an act of terror. It should be noted that these are allegations detailed in an indictment, and no judicial decision has yet been reached in the case. At this stage, legal proceedings against him continue, and the defendant faces severe charges concerning threats to public security.
