The Central District Attorney's Office has recently filed an indictment at the Central District Court in Lod against Ahmad Al-Rajoub, a 24-year-old from Ramle, charging him with aggravated murder, carrying a weapon and ammunition, obstructing legal proceedings, and destruction of evidence. The charges follow the death of attorney Arbel Feldman, who was shot to death in his office in Rishon LeZion in early August. According to the indictment filed by Attorney Sarah Tal from the prosecution, the background to the tragic event lies in a professional dispute surrounding a civil claim that Mr.
Feldman was managing for the defendant against an insurance company. It is alleged that Al-Rajoub was dissatisfied with the pace of the case, which was valued at only 18,000 NIS, and decided to harm his lawyer. The indictment details that the defendant arrived at the deceased's office in the heart of Rishon LeZion, armed with a semi-automatic pistol hidden under his clothing. It is alleged that he shot the attorney six times from close range, striking his upper body, head, and hand.
Immediately after the alleged act, the defendant fled the scene via the building's stairs and drove away, discarding his mobile phone and the pistol along the way in an attempt to obstruct the investigation. Several hours later, Al-Rajoub surrendered to authorities at the Ashdod police station and confessed to the murder, citing a financial motive. As part of the court proceedings, the prosecution has requested that the defendant be held in custody until the end of the legal proceedings.
Attorney Sarah Tal emphasized in her request that this behavior demonstrates extreme recklessness and cruelty, noting that it crosses a red line. In her remarks, the prosecution highlighted the clear public interest in ensuring the safety of attorneys, who must be able to perform their duties without fear and within the framework of the law. The case against Al-Rajoub is currently being heard in the Lod District Court, where he will face the charges detailed in the indictment.
The family of the deceased and the legal community in Israel are monitoring the proceedings, with the prosecution focusing on the need to protect lawyers acting on behalf of their clients within the Israeli judicial system.
