The indictment against a mathematics professor from Bar-Ilan University, accused of planning mass attacks against Arabs, has drawn further attention following the revealed involvement of attorney Tamir Dortal. Dortal, who hosts the podcast "Al HaMashmaut," admitted to having met the defendant in the past but chose not to report it to the police at the time. According to Dortal, the meeting took place in his office, where the defendant presented a theoretical plan he called "Ayit" (An acronym for "The people will carry out a transfer"). Dortal claimed he perceived the defendant as an older man presenting an "absurd" idea, and that in his view, it was a lapse in judgment not to contact law enforcement immediately. However, he noted that he made the gravity of the matter clear to the defendant and ordered him to leave his office. Following the defendant's arrest, Dortal stated that he is cooperating with the police investigation.

The unusual indictment filed against the lecturer includes charges of preparation for committing a terror act, extortion by threat, and obstruction of justice. According to the prosecution, the defendant planned to recruit 72 activists to carry out attacks in mixed cities and Arab towns using light weapons and subversive assistance from the military. As part of his efforts to advance the plan, the defendant attempted to recruit Moshe Feiglin, head of the "Zehut" party. After Feiglin refused all overtures, the defendant sent him extortion letters demanding he cooperate with the plan, threatening that otherwise, the letters would be circulated and cause him political damage. The "Zehut" party and Feiglin stated that they filed a police report immediately upon receiving the threats. Dortal, whose name has previously been linked to controversial statements regarding clashes between soldiers and settlers, emphasized in his response that he never supported the plan and rejected it firmly. As of now, a gag order remains in effect regarding the identity of the defendant in the case.
